Vintage Wonderland: Amelia Nourse Tarbet

In our efforts to being mindful, buying vintage is more relevant than ever. Not only is it better for the environment, but it adds instant historic flair to your home. Amelia, who describes her aesthetic as ‘modern eclectic’, sells the most wonderful vintage finds through her Instagram account. Even if you’re not planning on buying at the moment, her grid is full of major goals and inspo. Maybe you can even start looking at your own old stuff with fresh eyes.

Efficient Foyer

Now that we’ve been forced to stay at home for a period longer than we thought was humanly possible, we’ve been brought face to face with our home’s strengths and flaws. The pandemic has affected every single aspect of our lives, and will permanently change the way we live, outside and inside. This New York Times article gives us a glimpse of what our homes will look like. Hint: Flexible spaces, bigger appliances, better technology, outdoor amenities, efficient foyers, and of course: More storage.

Ondamarmo XL Federica Elmo Bloc Studios

The Milan-based designer developed a collection of 6 objects for Bloc Studios, a furniture studio focused in marbles and based in no other than Carrara, Italy. The purpose of the collaboration was to elevate the quarry’s second-choice marbles. For the collection, she created a new process of ‘3D jet-printing’ ink into the marble slabs that resulted in mind-blowing designs that play with the ambiguities between fiction and reality.

NEW YORK CITY ARCHITECTURE GUGGENHEIM MUSEUM INTERIOR BLACK AND WHITE VERTICAL - Robert Wojtowicz

Virtual Tour and Chill: Tour the Guggenheim

Slightly off-topic but I MUST. By now I’m sure you’ve heard about ‘virtual tours’. Powered by Google, hundreds of museums, galleries, zoos, and parks are now accessible for walk-throughs from your couch. There are plenty out there, from Brazil’s Museu de Arte de São Paulo, to ACTUAL Mars, to the Georgia Zoo (which live streams the tanks and you should mirror it on your TV because we all need to see some fish right about now). Having toured a couple, one of my favorites was the Guggenheim’s, just by the architecture alone (you can literally stroll down the spiral ramp). Check it out and let me know if you could make it to the bottom. If you want to see more, check out Forbe’s recommendations.

ULYSSES&GRAHAM-007.jpg

The Brazilian couple behind this home are complete opposites, but you would never suspect it. Ulysses De Santi is an introvert minimalist design dealer, and Graham Steel is a hyper-social maximalist art gallery director. Their West Hollywood residence is simple, yet luxurious; and proof that when it comes to design, and in love, one can always find a happy medium.

Aaand voilà for today. If you have any questions or comments, or if you came across something interesting you’d like to share, simply respond to this e-mail as I’d love to hear from you!

Until next week :-)
